"Pinotage is a grape widely grown in South Africa and was first produced there in the early 20th Century by crossing pinot noir with cinsaut. Pinotage almost always has a smokey element to the wine, however, some pinotages can be a litte sharp on the palate with leathery tannins. The Stormhoek Pinotage has a big and very smooth smokey quality throughout the palate. A great pairing for an aged gouda or cured meats such as salumi."
