Martin Alicante Bouschet 2005 750ml

"This tiny production of Alicante Bouschet is a mouthful of leather, cocoa and must be decanted for forty minutes of more. Hints of cinnamon, star anise and dust abound in this tannic wine. Pair with a hearty lasagna. Cellar now through 2012."

Merryvale Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 750ml
$24.99
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
2004 Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
91 pts Wine Enthusiast
"The Starmont designation is sort of a junior version of Merryvale's more expensive wines and is often a solid value. So it is with this Cab, whose grapes come from some prestigious vineyards. It's dry, rich and complex, with a classic Napa balance of firm, sweet tannins, acidity and cassis and cherry fruit. Beautiful now, and should hold well for six years." EDITORS CHOICE. -Steve Heimoff
"No decanting necessary. A great pairing for barbequed ribs."

Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

"This zin is from some of the most select vineyard plots located in the Dry Creek Valley. With its amazing bouquet of wild berries, licorice, crushed violets and sweet vanilla, it explodes with intense fruit flavors of blackberries, ripe raspberries, mocha, jasmine tea, chocolate, leather, anise and cinnamon. The tannins are soft and silky and the finish lingers for several tantalizing moments. This wine is crafted for earlier enjoyment. Strictly limited production."

Freiberg Vineyards

"Tony Coturri not only uses organically grown grapes, but relies on indigenous yeast, refrains from filtering and fining and never adds sulfites to the wine. Tony believes this zin to be among the best he has ever made, it has a distinct scent of honeyed apricots, this is a full bodied zin that offers up velvety plush fruit, hints of rich chocolate, toasted thyme, mushrooms and spice. Atascadero Creek Zinfandel 2005 750ml
$26.99
Russian River Valley Zinfandel
Haun Vineyards
"From the vineyards on Rob Haun's ranch in the Russian River valley, these dry farmed, no spray grapevines only produce about one ton per acre. The 50 year old vineyard was originally planted by members of Joe Dimaggio's family. The wine has notes of raspberries, blueberries and plums, the tannins are soft, and the finish is spicy. At 15.9% alcohol, it's a big chewy zinfandel. 70 cases produced." - Winemaker notes

"The Haun Vineyard is what is known as an Italian Field Blend consisting of several varietals in a predominantly zinfandel vineyard, with varietals such as Alicante Bouschet, Viognier, Palomino giving this zinfandel a much more viscous quality. The 2005 is my favorite vintage to date. Pair with Barbequed Meats, Country Pork Ribs, Chicken or Home Made Lasagna. Enjoy now or cellar through 2011. No decanting necessay."

Sonoma Coast Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2006
$29.99
Sonoma Coast Sauvignon Blanc
"This is an ideal aperitif wine, balanced and complex, with fig, pear and tropical fruit flavors. Our 2006 Sauvignon Blanc will complement a myriad of food pairings including grilled fish and fresh seafood, particularly oysters, crab, and lobster, grilled chicken dishes and a wide range of cheeses."
- Anthony Austin, Winemaker "One of my favorite Sauvignon Blancs. This cool climate at Hummingbird Vineyard is the most westerly coastal Sauvignon Blanc vineyard that I'm aware of. The soft round fruit flavors dominate the palate with only hints of herbacious grassy notes."

Rochioli Sauvignon Blanc Estate 2007 750ml
$29.99
Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Estate
"Forty-eight percent is from our newest planting of a very special and rare clone, forty percent is from the original Sauvignon Blanc vineyard planted in 1959, and twelve percent is from our seventeen year old hillside vineyard. Twenty-five percent of this blend is barrel fermented, which gives this wine its complexity and round texture. The balance is tank fermented to preserve its intense varietal character and firm acidity. 2950 cases were produced." - winery notes

"Another beautiful vintage of Loire Valley-Style Sauvignon Blanc from Rochioli Estate. Grassy, herbaceous flavors mingle with citrus of white grapefruit and firm acidities producing an exquisite seafood wine. A lovely pairing for seared scallops and arugula salad." - John Haggard, Sophie's Cellars
